2005 sliding door that pops back open (a lil)

Hello everyone,
I am new to this. With all the problems of sliding doors, i have a little different of a problem. I have a 2005 sienna xle limited. The drivers side sliding door cable went bad so I made it a manual door. But the problem I am having is when I close the door manually, and the van mechanically pulls in to latch, after a couple of seconds the rear of the sliding door pops back open, but only about a half inch or so. But then the van senses the door is open and with that a few things happen. You cannot lock door electronically, and the battery will eventually drain. Anyone have an idea??
