DIY Steps to Program Spare Key for 04 Sienna

I ordered some key blanks on eBay and understand to get the keys cut to match. What I am trying to find are the steps on how to program the key to my vehicle. I have seen online a few routines, one involves pressing the gas pedal and the other involves opening and closing the door. Can someone offer us the steps that pertain to my specific vehicle?

Thank you in advance,

I did this.

You need to be sure you bought a 4D transponder key.

Then you need a key programmer. There are several kinds. A generic scanner meant to program or set programming mode for many models of cars. Another kind is dedicated to Toyota and Lexus.

I bought an orange fob looking thing, that sets the cars commuter into programming mode, and allows to program 2 primary and one valet key.

I won't go into instructions on how to do it, because it depends on the programmer you get. But there is no way to use the door, gas or brake pedals to put the car into programming mode. But for the remote there is.
