Front Rattling sound

Rattling sound is probably due to brake pads' missing clips, pins's lacking brake grease.
There is a TBS on 2010 Prius with a similar metallic sound problem (when vehicle is over small bumps).

No.

The thin little clips on the front brake pads are not anti-rattle clips. Their purpose is not to suppress noise, but the opposite -- as a warning they make a noise when the brake pads are too thin.

I know this because I misplaced a clip on one wheel when I changed front brake pads. I then went to the parts department of the dealer to buy another. The parts counter guy told me not to bother, it's just there to scrape on the rotor and make noise as an indicator of thin brake pads.

I've been driving about 30k miles since then without the clip and without any noise.

How many miles?

Potholes where you live?

Do you drive on gravel roads?

Lots of stop and go city driving, or all expressway cruising?

Did the tech check the swaybarlinks? They will rattle over bumps when they wear. The lower control arm bushings are also know to separate and cause noises.
