Rear Floor Console

If you’ve ever wanted a rear floor console in your mini van, then I’ve discovered an interesting coincidence between the front console latch mechanism and the floor latches in the middle of the 2nd row. When the 2nd row seats are sitting directly behind the front seats, these latches are directly between them. (I’m not sure if these are the same in an 8-passenger van.)

It turns out that the front console will precisely fit into these middle 2nd row floor latches. The bottom plate from the front isn’t required. I found a front console on eBay for about $350, which wasn’t cheap, but it works like a charm. My kids love it and it holds a lot of their stuff.

I’m guessing that this will work on all 2nd generation Siennas with the 7-passenger config. Ours is a 2004 AWD XLE Limited. Pictures are in a public photo gallery named Interior Console in my profile (since I can't add attachments here.)

Not really a coincident, pretty sure I remember the owners manual showing this for my 2005, then you can put your six pack cooler between the front seats! -) Andy

... and I thought I had made a clever discovery. I see it's in my manual as well. Yeeesh! I think I'll look for the delete key ...
