USA

It's possible the heater control or the heater core might be going out on you. You can get either for pretty cheap online.

when you don't get heat, does the fan still blow air, or not?

First step in troubleshooting: Replace the wife and see if the problem goes away.

after much consideration, I kept the wifey and took the van in under extended warranty. back heater core was replaced and now works fine. front heat issue was fixed with a new radiator cap. van and wifey are both happily warm. merry christmas!

Radiator cap, eh? I wouldn't have guessed. Thanks for letting us know.
