I need help

I have a 2004 Sienna ce. I replaced the Cylinder Head Cover Gaskets, and something got broken on the camshaft timing gear. A little piece of what looks like a washer, don't know, here I put an image with a question mark over the thing. Somebody knows the purpose of that, and the repercussion on the van performance? I really needs help on this.

I really can't imagine it, is it that entire big gear? Take a look at the parts diagrams here:

With the Camshaft having tight tolerances, I wouldn't risk it, I'd just buy a new gear if that indeed is it.
