Tail light question

I bought a 2011 XLE in January, and after following my wife home one day, I noticed that the tail lights on the rear door are very dim. When the brakes engage, only the outer tail lights (not on the door) come on, along with the third light on top near the rear wiper. The only way I can get the door lights to come on is when she turns her lights on, and only then it's very dim LEDs. Has anyone else followed their Sienna one day and noticed something similar? Is this a defect associated with the braking light recall? I search the forum and didn't find a similar topic, but I apologize if this has already been covered.

Thanks!

Sounds normal. The brake light switch recall is a bracket under the dash and has no effect on the tail lights or brake lights.

I've followed and noticed alot of 2011s. The outer LEDs are for signalling and stopping warning. The inner ones on the hatch are for aesthetics only. They have the same power output as the outer lights when turned on with the headlight. But when you stop or signal a turn, the power output increases on the outer LEDs to warn drivers behind you or your wife your intentions. And IIRC, the brake switch has no corrolation with the LEDs. HTH.
