Power door trick

Did you know if you are walking up to your locked van and hold down one of the side door buttons on the remote that the van will automatically unlock and then open that door? No need to hit the unlock button on the remote first.

Interesting. This isn't a door trick trick, is it? LOL.

Not to be a smart azz but isn't that the purpose of the remote?
My key fob say to HOLD it to open the sliding doors, panic button or trunk.

Not sure if it only works with the smart key system but there is an option where you can set it if you want only one door to unlock or all of them.

Not sure if you're understanding the original post. Rather than hitting the unlock button to unlock the doors, and then one of the sliding side door buttons to open that door, you can just hold the side door button which will unlock all the doors and open that respective side door. To my knowledge this is a new feature for 2011, and not available on competing vans.

Tried it tonight and it works. Cool trick. Now if I can remember not to press the unlock buttom before I press the sliding door buttom would be my next trick.

Yeah, it can be programmed via the center console where the backup video screen is. But I think DA meant something else... Oh wait, he just answered. Never mind.

Page 56 of the Sienna Owners Manual.

Power sliding door operation (vehicles with power sliding door)
Even if the door is locked, pressing and holding the sliding door buttons will
unlock all doors and start open operation

Thanks for the tip...tried it on our trip up to Quebec and was handy with the 22 months old in one arm on a rest stop.

We love the SmartKey system on our Limited AWD but in the case of the sliding doors, the remote remains important in the day to day operation of the car with young children.

If we could only read the manuals, I bet there are a ton of other features we don't know about.

Reading the actual manual book is boring. Since I'm on the computer most of the day I just signed up in the Toyota Owners website https://auth2.toyota.com/owners/index.html

It will have the manual of any Toyota car you register and even have some how-to videos. It even showed service history of the work done by Toyota to your vehicle.
