Limited Models and Spare Tires

I called a couple of dealerships around my area and they insisted the Limited models that they have in stock all have the same packages and come fully loaded. Both places didn't seem to realize that there are different packages for the Limited. One salesman had told me that they make the Limited "different" or with a certain package for different areas of the US? Is this true or do these salesman not know what they are talking about?

Also, do the FWD models have a spare tire?

Thanks.

Liz

FWD do have spare tire.

Re different models/fully loaded: I don't really know, but here was our experience. Back in late December, we got interested in a Sienna Limited with AT package. After much research, we found that there was exactly ONE in the area (also with CX and PT). We drove it, liked it, didn't want that color. Wait time to build was 8-12 weeks.

Then we got busy with other stuff. In March I happened to do a local search, and there was one in the color we wanted; we're now happily driving it.

Just now I went back to Toyota's site to refresh my memory on package names: it asked for ZIP code, and *doesn't offer the AT package at all*!!!

Changed ZIP to California, and indeed, got different option packages available (fewer). Changed ZIP to Indianapolis, and surprise, can get AT again.

Verrrry strange.

Toyota is famous for only offering certain options in certain areas. I've almost never been able to buy a Toyota product exactly the way I wanted...even if it was supposed to be possible. In fact the Toyota region seems to change about 50 miles north of me because years ago I bought a Camry setup much closer to how I wanted and the local dealers couldn't order it that way. I also once waited six months for a GX470 to be built the way I ordered (which was possible according to books/dealer) however after six months the dealer said it wasn't likely they were ever going to build one the way I wanted. He said that sometimes they just choose not to build them and they won't. Other times they'll only ship certain ones to certain areas.

All FWD models have spare tires...AWD models do not.

Exactly. Different regions build cars differently. Usually the South East region builds cars with as many options as possible. Often times, when someone comes into the dealership here and wants a car that's only built in a different region, we will actually dealer trade for one, even if it means driving to Tennessee from Wisconsin.
