Cancelling the Navigation Instructions

I have a Sienna XLE 2011.

Here's the situation: I asked the navigation system to instruct me how to navigate to one of my predetermined destinations. Then I changed my mind -- I decided to **cancel** it. But I could not do that.

I've spent considerable time reading the manuals. I thought I searched carefully. ...but I can't find the one command that will do this.

Who knows how to do it?

Thank you.

On the right hand side, press "DEST"....at the top of that screen press "delete destination".

Welcome to the forum BTW!! And congrats on your new Sienna

Yes thank you. That works **perfectly! **

Note that while the screen says, "delete destination," (which will actually **end the navigation instructions that were in progress**) it does **not** actually **delete the destination** from memory. The destination is still there, ready to be used next time.

Happy to help anytime.....

They could have chosen better wording for it, as most people would think that it would delete the destination from memory.

Cancel Nav Instructions

More PITA, but the way the manual says, touch "ON' on the lower band of the screen (if not on already). Touch "ROUTE". Touch "PAUSE GUIDANCE"- It then cancels the destination.

Well, again, that is my difficulty with their manual. Pause does not mean cancel. Delete means delete -- it doesn't mean cancel.
The bottom line here is that when
1 -- I want to cancel navigation directions already in progress, I use the "delete destination" command.
2 -- and the rear screen can't duplicate the navigation screen, no matter what it says on page 31.

I understand that the writers must have been instructed to keep the instructions simple, but not at the expense of interchanging word definitions of "cancel" and "delete."

I think Toyota should make a sizable contribution to TOYOTANATION. Why? Becasue TN is correcting a lot of mistake in Toyota's manual.
