About a month ago while shopping for a Sienna I was offered $35,408 for an XLE with NAV, less $1000 rebate so it would have been $34k. They did not have 0% financing available at the time though.
2012 has auto headlamps and power passenger seat according to another poster here. Obviously they'll deal more on a 2011 and the MSRP is jumping up a few hundred $$ on the 2012. There will also not likely be the $1,000 rebate/0% finance option on 2012 for awhile.
The poster above didn't clarify if his $35k offer was on an AWD, but if so that's $1,000 under invoice which is about as good as you could. That's pretty close to true dealer cost after holdbacks. You might be able to get there if the dealer is really pushing to move it. Just watch getting nailed on the trade. I think someone else gave you a pretty good idea of where you could be on trade.

I like the auto head lamps very much and I really want to go towards 2012 but the problem is the excise tax will be so high if it is new vehicle. I have this eperience with 2 vehicles. That's why I am inclined towards 2011 so that the tax will be less (if not less falls down faster when we hit year 2012)
Car buying is not easy. Trading in brings heart attack because we have to lose much. I filled the black books on the dealer website the max they told that I would get is 29500. When I spoke with the dealerships, they said that I may be able to get more that what it says. May be this is a gimmick they use to attract us to come.
If lose a lot, I will not trade-in and will live with what I have...

$29,500 is tough on your Highlander. I assume you have been in communications with other dealers by phone/email. If so, you should know the people you are talking to are simply paid to "bring you in the door" and may be telling you just what you want to hear. Those conversations/emails are recorded and reviewed by managers to ensure that is what is happening. You'll need to bring it in, and leave w/o buying to get a "real" offer.
I'm speaking to you independently, off the record, and my dealership doesn't pull those tricks anyways. Try what I suggested, just bring it somewhere...be polite and get a number on it.

Thank you.
For my trade, that is what the black book says not any sales person. I filled the details on their websites and got that number. I can print it out and take it to them.
It is okay if they call me to come, and if I do not buy because I feel I am losing a lot then I will go home.
