Canada Check Engine and Check VSC system

Hi guys,

@13300 kms My toyota sienna surprised me with check engine lights and Check VSC system message. I contacted dealer immediately. Finally they diagnose the problem and ordered new Computer from toyota. Thankfully my van is still under warranty. I am very upset with whats going to happen after my warranty expires.

I had this at 1k (3 wks after I bought my brand new SE). Well, actually first my van wouldn't start and it had to be towed to the dealership. The battery was replaced and when I was picking it up the dealership actually didn't notice that it had the same VSC message and the turn lights don't work. They gave me a loaner car and and my van was finally fixed the following day. Service rep said it was a faulty battery (dead cells) and they also replaced a 10A fuse.

Dealer said they never saw this problem in 2011 sienna, but agreed they saw it many pre 2011 toyota models. Tuesday they are changing the ECM/ECU, I hope it will fix the problem. My battery is fine and my van is still in drivable condition.

I don't understand this statement. After the warranty expires, you'll have a newer ECM than you would have if the problem hadn't occurred. Nothing lasts forever; you're ahead of the game.

If, OTOH, this vehicle has some chronic electrical problem, you'll know it by then and unload it, eh?

I had this problem with my 2008 RAV4 V6. In my case, Lost AWD capability and Cruise control also. Turned out it was a $400 Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor (Not O2) Located right on exhaust Manifold, and was told these are problematic from Time to time. I wonder if it is an extreme Cold issue, I am from Alberta, Maybe too much expansion / contraction in our climate?
