Driver's side window glass problem

Hi, Today I had a problem while I was rolling up and down. When, I went to get the inspection sticker, suddenly, the window rolling phenomenon started acting weird giving some kind of sounds and acting like there is a lot of friction stopping it. I also felt like vibration and noise as well. There is no smoothness rolling up and down. I was really truly disappointed. Lucky me, I was at the dealership in the service area and asked them to check. The service advisor checked and sent it for inspection. My car was back and they said that it was normal. I was really disappointed and annoyed with the answer that it is "NORMAL". I asked them why other windows are smooth rolling and not this one and I insisted they check otherwise I will not leave and will report. Another tech./ engineer came and had a look and agreed that there is a problem. They took the car back and do not know what they did and now it moving smoothly. Since, they did not tell what they actually did, I closely inspected and there is a lot of golden yellow colored oil at the bottom of the door panel dripping and the oil smell near the driver's side door and window and understood they may have lubricated some mechanism inside.

Finally, I spent almost 4hours.30mins to get this done on a brand new car. I am happy they fixed and have to see how long it will last. I am disappointed because this thing happened to a new car with 100 or miles on it.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble already with only 100 or so miles. Lets hope that solved the problem. I had a similar incident few years ago on a brand new BMW. Several weeks old and I couldn't open the door from the outside. The tech took a can of lubricant and sprayed into the doorjamb lock mechanism. Problem never surfaced again.

I hope it will not return back. Do you think this is because of bad quality check inspections at the factory? Really disappointed at the same time very frightened. Such an expensive truck and they label it as limited version and see what happens. Once the sale is done they don't care much... So unfortunate...

Possible inadequate amount of lubricant. I completely understand your disappointment. Bought my first Toyota back in 2003 4runner. First week, driver seat had to be replaced. It moved every time I brake or accel. No further issues after that. Try not to think about it too much now. Enjoy your new car

had this happen once. just turned the ignition off and back on again to resolve the issue and never had it again. i've had my sienna for 15 months now. the window just "lost" its memory and just had to reset itself. this can be done without turning ignition to off by holding the power window switch down and hold it for a couple seconds after the glass have completely lowered, then close the window and hold the switch up for a few seconds after completely rolling up. this resets the memory according to the service tech i spoke to. hasn't happened again for me to try but will do if it occurs again.

Thanks ACS Rob: Mine was more like making sounds/noise as if rolling up or down is going against it's wishes. There is a kind of vibration too may be due to friction I guess. It sounded like rough, vibrant, noisy rolling up and down. It is a kind of squeaky noise with vibration kind of feel when we touch the door panel near the arm rest. Touchwood, All other windows are smooth rolling up and down. I really felt sad after this huge investment of time and money.

Thanks again to you and nth89
