Display navigation screen on rear screen for back seat passengers
2011 Sienna XLE
I know how to display my route on the navigation screen.
I also have the screen for rear-seat passengers that can show DVDs, for example the playing of a movie.
What is the process which will duplicate the display of my navigation screen **on the screen for rear-seat passengers??**

So you can enable backseat navigation in addition to backseat driving?
Seriously, I'd be surprised if this were possible, but I'd use it if it were!
In all seriousness, that is not possible without modifying the vehicle.
Thank you. I got this idea by reading page 31, column 2 (Sienna Navigation system manual, 2011) . I followed the instructions and the rear screen did NOT show the map.
If those instructions are misleading (I think they are!!) then this is another example of poor writing on the part of Toyota's technical writers.
BUT!! I do thank everyone who answered my question, and you're right, akphs, if the map was displayed on the rear screen that would only give my backseat passengers more motivation to criticize my driving and my route.
When I have this setup (CarPC) in my Matrix, my son love to see the map/route display in the rear monitors.
In Reply to MatrixPC:
First, my 2011 XLE Sienna seems to be identical to yours, at least in color
Second, I didn't understand if you **were** able to duplicate the navigation map on the rear-seat passenger display.
Please let me know if you did.
I don't think you can do that with the factory nav with out serious hack to the system.
The setup I mention above what NOT on the Sienna but was a CarPC setup in my Matrix.
I'm thinking of doing similar setup for the Sienna but leaving the factory nav intact.

Thanks for replying. I know evough about computers to keep my paws **out of** my Nav system. You are fortunate to have the knowledge to make your CarPC do what you want.
Unfortunately, my search (in the Sienna 2011 Navigation System Manual) to answer this question revealed some **poor writing** on the part of Toyota's technical writers. See p. 31, column 2, last lines. That suggests that the rear screeen **can** be made to display the navigation screen. In short, they led me on a "wild goose chase."
Anyway, again thanks! This board works as well as it does because good guys like yourself take the time to post information.

Well, it's easy to point to the tech writer but that's not always the case since I do deal with tech writers often. Some time, it's the software or funtion that never make it to the market so they change it without letting other folks know about it. It can also be poor planning from product manager or poor QA to verify certain feature.
You just can't assume tech writers to know everything from the manual or have everything works as expected, it requires the whole project team, not the writer alone.
OK I overestimated the authority of the technical writers. I also didn't understand that when they were actually composing text, that they did **not** actually **do** what they were describing.
This is the second time that I've had this problem. The other occasion involved using the screen command, "delete destination" when you didn't want to delete the destination at all. The need arose when I asked for directions to a predetermined destination, and then changed my mind after proceeding for a short distance.
...but thank you for clarifying the issue regarding technical writers.
