why no healight on beep reminder

What am I doing wrong here?

2011 Sienna LE. I keep getting out and notice the headlights are still on. Not sure why auto headlights are not standard, but more importantly, why no beep reminder to turn them off?

Am I missing something here?

They don't shut off when you open the driver's door? They're supposed to, I think (ours is a Limited, different rules).

So I can just leave the switch set to "on" all the time? So locking doors will turn off lights and unlocking doors will turn lights on? wow, that's strange. Would've been easier to just have auto headlights! I'll give it a whirl with the remote

thanks!

As far as I know most of the trims, I have the base, have auto off feature. It will go off when you lock with the remotec and will turn on if you turn the car to on. I'm not sure if it's the xle or limited that has the full auto lights as an option.

I have an LE AWD. The headlights shut off when I take the ignition key out of the lock. They come back on when I release the e-brake after I have started the engine. Yes, I use the e-brake all the time.

You can indeed leave them on all the time, the only real drawback is that the dash lights are dimmed when headlights are on. Otherwise I'd never notice.

Yep. That's how my 2000 Camry worked -- the only time the headlight switch ever got touched was by a garage when they worked on it, or when I was on a stealth mission in a hostile area. (In a CAMRY??!? Be serious!)

Okay, I did another test. The DRLs turn off when I open the driver's door after I take the key out of the ignition. It comes back on after I turn on the ignition and release the e-brake. The headlights turn off the same way but they turn on when the igintion is started, assuming you left it on in the first place.
