DRL solution

I have been thinking about changing the DRL to a bright white color. Whatever I thought of. I was no where near a straight substitution.
1). Aftermarket replacement (i.e. Silverstars and many others)
At the lower voltage supplied for the DRL, I am guessing the DRL light may not be as white as it should be.
2). HIR
I thought the best bulb to swap (changing from factory bulb) would be to HIR. I had it. My DRL is yellow in color.
3). HID
Yup, the best. But it means you are hight beaming everything in your path.
4). LED
Great. It looks great. It is definately white if you look directly at the car. Does it do its job as a DRL should? I am not so sure. If you shine the LED DRL light in a lighted garage, would on coming traffic see a light path from your car and know that a car is coming? That is my question.

So lot so lost.

1) Yes, silverstars will not look as white as they should because of the lower voltage. I know cause I have them in mine now.
2) Don't know what HIRs are, sorry.
3) Yes, HIds only come in one setting, so no low voltage for them. yes, you WILL be high beaming everyone coming your way. Also illegal.
4) Not so sure about LEDs. Sorry.
