Check VSC - Have your vehicle checked by dealer

Model: 2011 Sienna XLE
Purchased: February 2011
Milage: 2100

Problem: Van Stalled (wouldn't restart).

Scene: Wife went to drop off a friend. Parked the van and chatted with the friend for half an hour. When ready to leave, van would not start with "Check VSC - Have your vehicle checked by dealer" message on the display. Her friend's husband jump started the van. Van & wife both made it home. Van still displays the same message but restarted without any problem after shutting off engine, but wife doesn't want to drive the van again (she is a new driver and this is her first auto).

I will be, as a good duty bound husband, taking it to the dealer on Monday ... but in the meantime, any thoughts? possible reasons?

Sounds extensive ... and expensive

Thank you for your response chanduyaar. My problem appears to be identical to yours ... and I am glad that your problem was resolved to your satisfaction. Eventhough I am confident that my problem will be solved by the dealer, I am not so sure if they will replace all those computers and battery like they did for you, specially since Sienna does start up every time now (I tried a few times this morning and drove around for few minutes). Regardless of how they approach the problem, I am kinda disappointed that I am having problem with the car that has been driven only 2100 some miles. I will post update after my visit to the dealer.

Resolved

Okay, so here is what the dealer did: they replaced the battery. Reason: they said I (my wife, in this case) need to drive the van more as I was not giving the battery a chance to recharge. Hmm ... I am not a tech ... so I don't know how much driving MUST be done to keep the battery adequetly charged, but she drives roughly 10-15 miles every other day (which explains 2100 miles in 8 months). If lack of enough van usage was indeed the cause of this problem, then I don't know how we would stop the same problem from repeating as that (roughly 8 miles per day) is all she needs to drive and will probably continue that pattern. Any thoughts/opinions are welcome.

let me use the van... i put on about 30k per year. lol i have a similar problem with my bimmer. i only use it during the weekend when i can. i bought a $30 battery charger from sears which resolved my issues. i just plug it in over night once every 2 weeks and haven't had any battery issues since.
