Hi All, Hope all are well during the holiday season. Now, I am taking some break from work and hence decided to drive my car more and think about it because I love her. I call my car as "Shining Silver Bird"
Forgive me: I did not use the "search"
Question1:. Do you have ever experienced a popping sound of your back passenger doors? Also, do you hear any kind sounds when closing the passenger door like a rubbing against/grinding/struggling etc. (I do not think I have described it right because it is really not like grinding and struggling...)The door closes, but with some kind of sound and I am unable to describe. I noticed this yesterday. Does it happen during cold season? I always use remote to open doors.
Question 2: When I open the driver's door, I hear a sound from odometer (or may be from that side/region). I feel like a disc turning or something. What is it? It is not like "Click sound" which we hear when unlocking or locking doors...
Question 3: The fake wooden gear stick knob: how far can we thight? If it is too tightened, will we do damage of any sort?

Happy Holidays,
1) Yes, lots of folks, lots of discussion. Do use search, look for "pop" or "popping".
2) If you mean after turning the car off, yes: this is something related somehow to the electronics. Try opening the door *before* turning the car off; the car will "bong" at you, then close the door and you'll hear the noise. I'd like to know what this is myself, just for curiosity's sake.
3) Presumably if you tighten it too far, you'll find it will be loose then aligned correctly. And if you *really* tighten it too far, you'll split the knob, shear the shaft, or hurt your hand

My popping sound occured few times only. I hear a kind of resistance to rolling or rubbing while closing the driver's side passenger door. I think this is due to lack appropriate amount lubricants or cold or ice. Should I be frightened that my Shining Silver Bird is sick and take her to the doctor's.....

The popping noise is a known issue caused by a timing delay. The fix is a published service bulletin that requires replacing the motor/actuator in the door and is covered under warranty. Takes half a day to do both doors. Until you get it fixed, you can avoid the popping noise by either using the key fob or one of the internal electric buttons, or else holding the handle out until the door starts to move. The pop happens when you pull and release the handle quickly before the door starts to move. Good luck with your repair.
