solved: SOS button red, and bluetooth mic not working
the problem is solved, but I thought I would post this so the solution is searchable in this forum.
recently, the SOS button was red all the time (even though I'm still within my 1 year complimentary subscription). The SOS call center confirmed it was not working.
at the same time, the bluetooth phone mic was not working, and the person talking to me could barely hear what I was saying.
there is a service bulletin (#36) regarding this issue, but apparently my VIN was not within the service bulletin's range.
the solution was to replace the telematics ECU. Covered under warranty, thankfully, because the ECU cost $1800 for parts alone.
