Chinese GPS update -

Seems like Chinese In-dash Navigation systems are coming down in prices and getting ok reviews. There is one good review thread on RAV4 forum regarding Chinese navi units. I think review is couple years old but there may be new reviews on other forums.

So for Sienna Navigation. I been seeing prices around 350-470 on couple models. Here is one with 370 and free shipping.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-2-Car-DVD-...item336c908324

Here is one asking to make a best offer... may be 300

http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Toyota-Sie...item4160627af9

Couple members had shown interest on getting 8" Chinese units for Sienna.

Please update if you can.

Cheers,

I was looking at those also.

I like how it's very oem looking and no extra dash console is needed.

I'm concerned on how accurate the nav is.

some of this units have SIRF IV with ~250Hz GPS CPU. Should be very accurate. Chinese can put to gether units but can't make their own SIRF chips they most likely have to get it from Taiwan or other sources.

With option of IG8/Route66 on Win CE 6 that's something +++.

These Units are junk guys, beware !

I purchased one for my wifes rav4. It stopped working after 4 months.

And the seller stopped answering my messages and emails , 1 year warrenty my a$$.

$350 down the drain !!

Spend alittle more on a name brand unit.

Heres my thread from when I purchased it..
Ebay navigation / dvd radio is awsome !

Thanks for the heads up.

What was it that didn't work: navigation, sound, screen, power....?

I read your thread but you didn't mention it.

Looks like the unit didn't power on so have you tried checking the radio's fuse? since it's dead, I would fiddle with it before tossing it in the trash

The unit powered on but the screen display was white, I tried reseting it . Unplugging it and the basic stuff. It was dead ..
Either the LCD of the processor it self died.

what a bummer!

did any sound come out though?

If you're going to toss it out, see if you have can some of the electronic trade schools or a college class can fix it. It can be a learning experience for them
