New slider problem

The other day I was at Trader Joe's, parked on a slight incline. When I opened the driver's side slider to get my reusable bags out, the door opened, then when it reached the end of its travel it hesitated and then closed, whacking my arm in the process. "Hmm", thinks I, "that's strange".

When I came out of the store, it did it again. I decided it MIGHT be because it was on an incline, and the latch just hadn't caught.

But today it did it on the level, so tomorrow it sees the dealership. Will report back findings, if any.

Good news: I'm stupid!

There was a pair of the wireless headphones in the door pocket. They've been there for months, yet somehow this week decided to start interfering with the door. The dealership was nice about it, and I suspect I've given them their "dumb customer" story for the day.

This is the second time that pocket has given me trouble: once before I had some library books on the seat, waiting to be returned. After the return, one of them showed as still checked out! Several days later I was on the passenger side and opened that slider, and one of the books had slid off the seat and into the pocket. If I hadn't happened to notice it, it might still be there -- it's impossible to see into the pocket with the door open.

So the moral of the story is, "Any time there's anything weird with the slider, check the pocket". I should have thought to get in and sit in the rear seat and tinker, which would have given me a chance to notice the headphones.

O well -- I finally remembered to pick up touch-up paint, and got a free car wash, so it wasn't a completely wasted trip!
