New discovery for smart key owners

Found this out while I was sitting at the drive though, long idle.

1. Place the hand brake on.
2. Move gear selector to Neutral.
3. Press Start/Off button

Enjoy the car going into accessory mode and not fully shutting down

Ok now the drive though line starts to move.

4. Depress brake peddle.
5. Push Start, car turns on.
6. Disengage hand brake.

Now I'm on my way to get my grub on.

This might seem dumb to our fellow key owners but the smart key suck at just trying to get to accessory mode from a running mode.

I don't have the Sienna with the smart key, but I have a Camry Hybrid w/ smart key and from my experience, you can get into accessory mode by:
- Gear Selector = Park
- Do NOT depress brake peddle
- press Start/Off button

Lastly, if you're waiting in a driver through that long, wouldn't it be better on your car (and environment) just to walk inside and line up?

Here's an interesting mythbuster:

Myth #3: Shutting off and restarting your vehicle is hard on the engine and uses more gas than if you leave it running. Reality: Frequent restarting has little impact on engine components like the battery and the starter motor. Component wear caused by restarting the engine is estimated to add $10 per year to the cost of driving, money that will likely be recovered several times over in fuel savings from reduced idling. The bottom line is that more than ten seconds of idling uses more fuel than restarting the engine.

Thanks I'll try that out later.

It's best to go inside but here in the San Francisco you won't find parking very easily.

Sorry, I should add that your car will turn off first and then you need to press the Start/Off button again (when the car is off) to get into the accessory mode. This is how it works on my Camry at least.

This is how pretty much all SmartKey push button start systems operate. What the OP was describing was how to get straight to ACC mode while the car is running, without have to do a full shutdown first.
