I'm thinking of having Sirius installed on my new 08 Highlander Hybrid by the dealer. After seeing the instructions I'm not sure I want them tearing the car apart to do it. Anyone have the dealer install it in theirs and any prblems after the install?

Also, the service person showed me the screen and it didn't appear/show Sirius it showed XM on his page. He told me it's all the same now, being a Sirius subscriber currently, I don't believe that statement to be true and want to be sure prior to paying all that money and having them tear apart the vehicle only to find out he was wrong. The reason I ask is I see Sirius is offered at some of the parts sites as a seperate offering as both service offerings are still seperate. I did send Sirius a note, but I'm sure they won't know about the Toyota offerings.
You are correct about questioning the guy when he says Sirius or XM it's all the same. It's really not, there are some similarities but it depends on what you want to listen to specifically on the non music end.

To break that down real quick if you are interested in some things you might lean one way or the other.
NFL-SIRIUS
MLB-XM
Howard Stern-SIRIUS

That being said I couldn't tell you where the Factory XM Antenna is on a Highlander.

Even if you get SIRIUS Installed and we (http://www.tss-radio.com) sell everything you need to make that happen, the category will still display XM, but the rest of the info will display the correct info. "XM" is considered the type of input as understood by your factory Toyota Radio.

If you do want factory like SIRIUS in your Highlander here is what you need. Your Highlander actually has some different choices for this and some have different compatibility .

This kit http://www.tss-radio.com/toyota-lexu...ge-p-5709.html will work but only if you have the Navigation and Smart key features.

This kit http://www.tss-radio.com/toyota-siri...ry-p-4471.html will work so long as your Highlander has the JBL or Navigation.

In this kit, http://www.tss-radio.com/isimple-med...it-p-6729.html it will integrate BOTH Sirius and iPod to your factory system. It's a bit more complicated to install though. It's a good option if you have an iPod though.

Hopefully I'm not giving too much info on these options. Just let me know if you have any questions. I'm sure there are some people here who have converted their Factory XM systems to SIRIUS.
