unless you have a highly disturbed atmosphere with electromagnetic interference (i think its actually been mentioned already on THIS post), then yes, you would use shielded wires. however, you can even make your own and would still sound the same if one were to NOT cross with power wires. strands of copper wire do count, but thats why there are AWG standards. if anything, you'd look for twists per inch...
