Well I just bought two 1990 4Runners and am doing the same thing.

Absolutely change all the fluids - there's no chance of you causing anything but good by doing that.

While you're doing it I'd suggest you run an engine flush in the oil prior to the oil change.

Also, consider putting Lucas oil supplement or similar in the differentials and transfer case.

As far as the timing belt goes, try and find out from the previous owner how long ago it was done. If you can't find out I don't know of any way of checking it, maybe someone else on the forum does. If in doubt I'd change it, that's what I'm doing with mine. Sure would be nice to find out if there's a way to check it - I'll post a seperate thread and see if we can find out.
