Lightbulb 2.7L 3RZFE T-100 throttle body cleaning...

Ever since I got this 1996 T-100 long bed to replace the 1993 T-100 long bed, I've been working on gitting all those various neglected items taken care of. Today was the throttle body (TB)... No...I didn't take any piccies of the process.

Had to take a peek in the TB to see how bad it was. To me...it was pretty bad fer 187k miles! I was scraping a good ¼" thickness off the air plenum opening...I was pulling chunks out. It was more like an oil leak under the car combined with dirt build up. Never saw one this bad before. Took me a good hour just doing that alone! The butterfly valve wasn't as bad but still needed a good scrubbing.

It was pretty easy to git the TB off...just 2 nuts and 2 bolts (12mm socket with a 6" extension), 5 hoses, and the TPS connector. Ended up tearing the paper gasket so I have to git a new one at the dealership later today. I left the accelerator and kickdown cable attached as they weren't too much in the way.

Not exactly sure where the excessive buildup came from...gonna put two Fram G2 fuel filters from the valve cover (between the PCV valve and the air plenum and from the valve cover vent to the TB) as a basic oil catch system. Picked up one from Walmart fer about $3...it comes with some short hoses and 4 clamps. I was able to blow into it and it flowed pretty freely. It's clear so you can see any buildup and it should filter out most of any oil gitting past the PCV valve.

I did notice that when the engine is running and opening the oil fill cap, there's a lot of pressure popping through there. Is this normal? Any other 4 cylinder T-100 owners out there wanna chime in?

Cleaned the MAF and pulled the fuses fer the ECU/EFI fer about 1 min. Took it out fer a spin and the truck definitely had a good amount of pickup and go...especially when you stand on it. Before...hard acceleration was non-existent.

Also, I noticed that were freeze plugs on the ends of the air plenum. Has anyone here pulled those to clean that out and installed new ones instead of taking the air plenum off? Here's the link of the plugs I'm talking about. Obviously...I would go from the front instead of the rear/firewall side...
