I did not apply the grease to the edges of the pads. I thought of that yesterday. However, I'm not sure that would help - in theory it would only scrape while you're hitting the brakes or letting off, correct?

The problem got so bad that I replaced the pads yesterday. Did a thorough cleaning, then replaced pads/clips/etc. These brakes are not nearly as easy to put back together as my explorer.

Then, in the process of trying to rotate the tires, I discovered that no matter how hard I try I can't get the rear wheels off. That's 1 feature of this car that drives me nuts - the wheels sticking to the axle.

Hey, in the end - no brake squealing so far today. I get a squeal about 50% of the time as I'm backing out of the garage, but that's it.
