In the North American market - the 4th gen Celica (1986-1989) marked the beginning of the end of the RWD layout, if you don't count the later AWD models. The previous three generations - were all FR layout.

That year also marked the "split" between the Celica and Supra into two distinct model lines. All Supra models carried the FR layout - including the MK-III (1986?-1992) and MK-IV (1993-1998).
