If it's on the outside...you could use their POR-15 Rust preventative coating to arrest and halt the rusting now.

Only other option is to git a tank from the parts yard... Try www.car-part.com and save some big bucks!
would it be a good Idea to use this stuff as a preventive maintenance ?
