Well, Japanese people have a different psyche when it comes to cars...to them, BMW and Mercedes and considered exotic since they're made in Germany and high status. When Lexus came out of the gate in 2006 in Japan, sales were below expectations. Right now, Lexus sales are starting to pick up in the home market thanks to the HS250h.
