The motor was off yesterday, and I happened to see a spot on the serpentine belt that didnt have any ribs... odd. So I started the car and watched the alternator pulley, and every time this spot on the belt went over that pulley, it would make that hollow knocking sound. So I got a little worked up and concerned since this car is new to me, But I'm happy it was just the belt. I changed the belt (=no fun) by myself and the noise is gone. Thanks to all that posted and helped out.
