The best way I can describe it is like if you were humming, but breathing in. It lasts 1-2 seconds, starts as a low pitch and then gets higher before going away. It's loud enough to hear with the stereo on at low-medium volume.
I don't notice anything wrong with the car while driving, but the noise is concerning. Anyone heard this before, or have any ideas?

What happens if you take it out of "gear"; i.e. put it in neutral when you are coasting down?
And does it stop just about before you come to a stop?
