"high-perfomance" Corolla timing belts ?
I keep hearing about Corolla timing belts breaking after about 150k+ miles.
When I bought my '91 wagon the seller (an import-nut) and his son wouldn't let it leave their shop until they put a new timing belt in it even though it only had 121,000 on it when I purchased it in November 2002.
The guy made me watch 'em put the belt in and said, "
It's just better for me if I do it know - that way you don't accuse me of selling ya a lemon."
My 1986 NovaRolla timing belt quit at about 198,000 and my mechanic-buddy said that was a rather long life for a Corolla belt.
Does anyone make a "high-perfomance", "heavy-duty" or "extended-life" timing belt for the Corolla ?
What length of belt life-spans have you guys observed ?
I apologize if this question is sorta like someone asking,
"Does anyone make headers for small block Chevy?" but here in the redneck part of the world there's not a lot of import-savvy guys.
Thanks ! Dwayne
