either FT-86 or Celica.
It wouldnt be a corolla because it just doesnt fit into their current line up, and shares no resemblance to the corolla.
It may be a Celica, because the FT-86 does fit the Celica line for the most extent, RWD (the celica once was) and a potent 4 banger. & although the celica is "dead", I do not see that as going against it. Why not revive the Celica branding. It's only been 4 years since it was "killed", and numerous automakers have revived lines such as the Impala, Challenger, Charger, Camaro, to good, moderate sucess. The Celica is still revered in many terms.
& over my dead body will it be a tC. Scion is subpar quality, fake performance. Its got to be a Toyota, or nothing. & I think Mr. Toyoda sees that. Its branded as a Toyota, and if he wants it to be a real sports car, and a real competitor then he wont shovel it off to toyota's secondary "youth" brand. Because no one relates Scion to performance, its related to as a either "tricked" out, or chicks car. No true performance oriented person would call any scion a performance vehicle. & also mind you scion is NOT worldwide, and this is a vehicle that would be sold world wide, and to simplify things, I'm sure it would stay a toyota. & also mind you the tC is based on the Toyota Avensis, a four door sedan sold abroad, not a 2 door. The tC will probably be based on the new generation Avensis, as that formula worked, and bring a real performance car, onto a real, noted brand.
Final conclusion, the Celica moniker would suit best for it is a name branded into the minds of performance seekers world wide, as the Celica is a vechicle that was sold world wide, and had a good sport reputation well into the 1990's.
