The Check Engine Light (CEL -- you'll see this abbreviation quite a bit) looks like a little picture of an engine and will briefly light up when you turn the car on (this is to let you know that it's working -- not indicating any problems).

Some carbed AE92s have CELs (mine, for instance.) It might only be on California cars though.

Here's an example... they all look relatively similar:




Hopefully it's not a dead ECU but that's looking like the most likely culprit now.
