A complete waste of time and money.....if you are looking for a CAI to boost HP. They don't..... that's just advertising hype. Besides, the stock intake IS basically a "cold air intake".....in that the air enters at just behind the driver's side headlight. As for the oiled air filters "flowing more air".....and thus creating more HP....... that's BS also. Either the filter FILTERS, in which case it will have a certain amount of restriction...... or it doesn't filter as well, in which case it will have less restriction. A proper filter, of whatever type, capable of filtering the same particle size.....WILL produce the SAME amount of restriction, period. There is a SMALL value in a smoothly curved intake tube of uniform diameter, as opposed to the wacky amalgamation of shapes of the standard intake system..... but only a fraction of a hp, no more. The ultimate limitation, however, is the throttle body.....which is just a hair over 2" in diameter (on the 5SFE). No matter what you do upstream of the TB, it will only flow so much air, without turbocharging or supercharging. As I said.....a fraction of a hp.....that's it.
If you are looking for a CAI for appearance sake...... or to get rid of the HUGE airbox in the engine bay, for easier access.....that is another matter. But, for the amount of money charged for these ACCESSORIES (and that is ALL they really are)..... I'd say, don't waste your time (or money). You'll do more by reducing exhaust backpressure anyway.
