I will try to ask a chain store lube shop to see what they use in transmissions to see if they have GL4 for the manual transmissions that require it, just out of curiousity...

Up date 1 /30/2010,,, I have changed to Redline MTL As my 1st to second shifting wasn't as good as i would have liked. The Corona book requires GL4 spec 80 wt. , the Redline MTL is similar to the required spec and the Corona is shifting better in the cold weather. Here is the product info, and there is a Reline tech sheet that explains the way the syncros work if you search the web. Remember gear oil viscosity numbers = rather this motor oil numbers ie. 5-30 wt. and the MTL seems to be the cure for my shifting.

"Red Line MTL is a 70W80 GL-4 gear oil (SAE 5W30/10W30 engine oil viscosity) designed for use in manual transmissions and transaxles. MTL is a low 70W at very low temperatures, and a high 80W, nearly an 85W, at elevated temperatures, providing adequate viscosity to prevent wear and deaden gear noise. Overall, this gear oil provides excellent protection of gears and synchronizers, and its balanced slipperiness provides a perfect coefficient of friction, allowing easier shifting."
The Corona 1900 4 speed requires a little under 2 qts to refill the drained gear box. I also lubed the linkage that is under the car by moving the boots off and lubing the linkage .
