I think I stop short of popping of the cover and manually sticking in the metal key..

Anyone have any luck in turning off the seat-belt beep. It's listed as being possible in the manual but I didn't see a function for it in techstream.
You cant close the windows with the remote. You can only close it with the Key in the door.

The seat belt beep is off in mine...

I'm here at my dealership and they tried to charge me 45 for the changes and I just flat out told him that I'm not paying for and it should be free because I just bought the car about a month ago and no one even mentioned it to me as being an option on that day. And of course he gave in.

I assume you mean a 16 pin vs a 24 pin cable?

16.

Dealer did it at the same time he changed the other settings I wanted fixed. I got:

Hold unlock to lower drivers window and open sunroof
Key in drivers side door to open/close sunroof
Headlights off 60 sec after locking vehicle (changed from 30 seconds)
Unlock button remote opens all doors with one press (I have smart key, so if I open my door only, I don't even have to take out the keys...)
Seat belt chime disabled

I wish they would just tell you how to change these options yourself. I want to have some of these done but am way too busy with work and travel right now. Doing it all myself would take no more than 5 min.

I know the following can be done without going to dealer or special equipment:

Headlights off 60 sec after locking vehicle
Unlock button remote opens all doors with one press

It's in the owner's manual under the customization section - see my sig to download OM PDF.

Yea the unlock for the remote was definitely one for when other people get in the car. But I really wish that holding the home button would open all the windows and sunroof, not just the drivers side.

Just looked for how to customize how the smart key unlocks, from one door to all doors. All I can find is that it's possible but it doesn't tell you how to do it. The only thing I can see is for when you touch the inside of the handle.

On the FOB:
Pressing the button unlocks
the driver’s door. Pressing the
button again within 5 seconds
unlocks the other doors.

Why use the FOB unlock button if you have keyless entry? N/M, I guess if your behind the crowd that needs to get into the car, you'd use the FOB unlock button - but it requires two presses to open all doors. Not aware if that can be changed to one press for all doors.

Haha sorry I know how to work the remote like that.

I thought you could just press the unlock button on the remote once to unlock all the doors?

And I use the handle to open the door when I just get in. But when other people get in I use the remote so they don't have to wait to get in. I also don't want the handle to open all the doors cause I go into the city often and it's not safe.

I agree. I hope that disconnecting the battery doesn't deactivate the changes I made, but only time will tell. How hard would it have been to make it so we can make all these changes in the head unit...??

Yes, it can be changed. Like I said, I have the smart key, so I can open the drivers only by simply touching the handle. If I'm with someone, I had it changed so I can just take out the remote and press the button one time to unlock all doors. Once is easier than twice. I had it done while having other stuff done...why not.

Okay, I figured it out ........
For vehicles with Smart key system and Nav display:
- Turn ignition to on (you don't have to start the car)
- Press SETUP button on Nav
- Press Vehicle soft key
- Press Remote 2-Press Unlock soft key - turn this off to make single press of remote unlock button unlock all four doors.

Have fun and watch get the gist on this Toyota video.
