Great news! The woven material the visors use is the expensive stuff that seemingly EVERY single car in this class uses except for the Camry and has been one of my complaints. They should've had it from the beginning. Now fix the cheap HVAC controls and re-pad the back door panels and they'll have fixed my biggest gripes about the interior.

Could you elaborate further on the door panel changes? Did they add more padding? DId they add the cloth back to the LE and SE models? Are the back doors padded again?

When compact cars like the Cruze and Focus and even the ancient Chevy Impala are using cloth headliners, the cheap Hyundai Accent garbage in the Camry doesn't fly. It was cost cutting at its finest. So was using soft touch padding (thin, I might add) only on the front doors and hard plastic on the back.

The wording in the book is a bit confusing. Footnotes are on the LE and SE fron inner door panels, there will be "soft material". On the SE and XLE with leather packages, the soft material has stitching on the front and rear inner panels.

same here. but nicer door panels and headliner will make interior look even better. I'm ok with present door panels but headliner look cheap and hard to clean.

what exactly do you mean "only on the front doors"?
my front and back door panels are exactly the same: padded soft material next to the glass, black hard plastic below that, black padded arm rest, hard grey plastic below arm rest.
I would like padded material above arm rest, want no fabric and prefer plastic, but have nothing against hard bottom part.
hard plastic more difficult to damage and easier to clean.

like HVAC controls alot and don't see anything wrong here...

Wierd.... my car doesnt have a padded rear door panels. Only the fronts are. This is where the glass meets the door panel.

I fill have to find a wrecked 2013 some day and steal the door panels.

I have an April build date from Indiana

Knowing my luck my car was destined to be a rental or something.

Haha, I use my middle finger INSTEAD of the turn signal...Lol

Seriously though, I wish we could get the effects package from the Aurion Sportivo, and the blue color from the Aussie's Atara SX.

The Aussie wheels would be nice too, and the dual exhaust on the I4 would be a nice add-on-and wouldn't be too difficult as the canucks have it.

Finally, a damn gloss black roof vinyl as a dealer option.

I could go on an on too about what I wish we could get, like the 6 speed manual from the Tc as an option on the SE, VVTL-I on the 2ar, and an update to the damn TRD catalog.

But, I love my gen7 as it is, and personalizing it is 99% of the fun of ownership, so whatever comes won't bother me.

They cheaped out on the back doors. The plastic by the windows is soft in the front, hard on the back doors. It's a lame way to cut costs. Every Camry before has bad the door panels be consistent and nobody else in the class does it.

So by "inner panel" I'm assuming they mean the hunk of hard plastic between the top of the door panel and the padded armrest? Seems like they're adding vinyl padding and distinguishing leather models with stitching. Good move.

the door panel material is good how it is on my '12 SE...my mom's '12 rav4 has the color match door panel material and it sucks because you have to worry about getting the light colored cloth dirty, but its where you are constantly touching and resting your arm and stuff. It is just a matter of time no matter how conscious you are about it...there is no way in 100k miles its going to look as good as it does new. However, on my '12 the fake leather door panels WILL look just as good as new in 100k miles!

What is a 3 blink turn signal thingy?

Im glad they didnt change anything that I use, i just got my '12!!! (i never even heard of the 3 blink blinker stalk thing).

We aren't talking about the color, we are talking about the material the plastic is made out of.

The blinker feature is when you hit the switch light enough and it the blinker comes on for 3 seconds. It's meant for when you change lanes and momentary things of that nature. I think it's useless and on a lot of cars is annoying because the blinkers will turn off if I still want them on.

I was talking about the spot above the left arm rest on the door panel...is the '12 se its fake leather, in my friends '10 tundra its fake leather, but in my mom's '12 RAV its color match cloth material (same cloth as the seats). In my Camry, friends Tundra the spot where you put your arm on the door panel is that plastic type material, but on the RAV w/ the cloth where you put your arm is cloth.

About the soft touch padding your talking about, your talking about where your arm/elbow sits on the door? Your saying that only the front doors have it and in the back 2 its just hard plastic?

I may be confused as to what part the change applies to...is the part where you put your arm/elbow changed? or is it the section on the door panel right between that between the armrest and the upper door panel by the window?

The Camry is in need of much more significant improvements than the petty crap you're trying to get away with. If they're really serious about widening the car's appeal, and lowering the age of the average buyer, they need to get it together.

A $16,000 Sonic has honest to goodness wheels and Sat radio standard. Why doesn't a $24,000 Camry?? Why does the old SE have real aluminum pedals and all-power down windows, and the new one doesn't?? Why doesn't my $32,000 V6 SE have dual zone climate control?? Or rear seat air vents?? Why does it look like my shifter was cribbed from a Power Wheels??

The 2012MY car was seriously closer to a mid-cycle refresh, than a redo. To the point the car already needs another update. As is, the car is just half-baked.
