It is now available on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/401180877788
The inner part has led as well (not sure how to connect it). There is also smoke version available.
What do you think?
Can someone install it and let us know the instruction please? ?
Looks to close to stock to warrant the price to me. I will be doing what I did with my previous car, cutting open a set and blacking out all the chrome expect where the light reflectors are. cost about $100 and a weekend to do.
The bulbs were led projector style. Way brighter than stock. I did test before I blacked them out and also checked with a local police officer and state inspector to make sure it was legal and bright enough. So makes perfect sense to me.
Here's a link to some reverse lights for the Corolla you might enjoy. I've bought a single CREE bulb for my Camry. It offers lots of throw but in a thin line good for distance marking but no real flood. I bought a Samsung LED for my buddy for his 2010 corolla it offers a good amount of flood but not too much distance. It has Samsung SMD LEDS all around the body and two with a projector type front.
1. Unlikely: Somehow these cars are prewired for them, but the NA market doesn't require it [commonly a EU thing, for rear Fog lights],
2. The tails come with long pigtails to join the wiring at a taillight junction in the rear end, run down into trunk
3. You can always just T-Tap them into the license plate lights.
I personally would take apart the trunk liner to see if any existing pigtails are hidden back there, if not, I would proceed to simply tap into the plate lights, easiest, close by and quick to do...
I think the inner tail has break function as well, so it's better to connect them to the outer portion. Probably just need to tap them to the 3 wires from the current break lights. it's coming next week, I'll see how it looks
Ooh, I like the look of that. I agree, this is how Toyota should have released the Camry. All other competitors offer LED tail lights but Toyota doesn't. I don't understand since they offered LED tail lights for the Gen 6.5 (2009-2011) but got rid of it with from 2012-now.
How's the fitment? Is it flushed with minimal gaps? Is it straight plug and play without additional resistors or wiring?

Yup it just plug and play. It fits perfectly like an OEM part, the gap is minimal. The reisitors for LEDs are built-in, so you don't need to buy additional resistors. All cables included. I purchased it from imotorsport on eBay, which located in CA.
Yup cause there is a hook that is covered by the bumper.
You may not need to remove the whole bumper. You can try to push the bumper down so there is enough space to take the tail light out. But I removed the bumper to make sure I won't break anything haha
Wow. I love it, now, IMO the car is "complete" if one were to leave it 'stock'...
Looks perfect and probably matches the overall look with LED lamps in the front.
Hopefully too many LE owners don't start buying these to diminish the looks on XLE/XSE trims!
I never understood why Toyota will include LED headlamps in the front for higher trims, but won't fix the rear appearance.
If you have an XSE/XLE it should look like it from the back! Not just an LE with a better badge.
Now some of you may see why I changed the look on the back of mine [7gen] as much as possible to take away from the taxi cab/generic entry level look!!
after seeing some of the pics, im beginning to change my mind on these... they look a lot like they should have come on the camry to begin with...
Im thinking of buying a set, but wondering if i should go with the clear or the smoke.
clear definately has a more OEM look (yes i know the special edition comes with smoked tails), and if getting the clear I can always spray tint if i really want em smoked, though im sure it wont look as great as a smoked lens.
Yes it does, thank you so much that pretty much clears it up for that side of the mystery. And you ran the wiring for the inner lights through the trunk hinge going towards the driver side? And how did the package arrive? I mean I live in NJ and wouldn't want them to get really damaged on their way here.
It arrives in a huge box. I think they pack it very well. All the parts are kept in place and has empty place between the parts and the box. The parts are also wrapped in bubble wrap. Even you drop the box, it won't damage the parts
Can anyone post video of lights on in daytime, just want to make sure there as bright as in pics, sometimes pics make them look brighter for some reason.
Does bumper unbolt from wheel Wells and clips by the trunk opening, just a guess from past cars???
How did you connect the inner tail light/brake light? I'm confused, since the inner part only has the reverse light bulb, how would one connect the other wire from the inner light?
Well according to previous comments it's a wire harness that's included in the kit that would plug into both inner LED lights. With this it than runs towards the driver plug and will work. I'm going to still order these tail lights next month after I have some extra money lol. As far as taking bumper off, there are two screws right behind the rear wheels in between the bumper and the 1/4 panel, it's tucked away so just keep an eye out for it. Under the bumper there are other two screws holding bumper to rear carpet type of splash guards. And in the rear under the diffuser there are about 6 screws to take out. Opening the trunk will show two plastic circle covers that hide 2 more screws under it. Taking the tail light off you'll need to remove the bumper if you wanna do it without damaging anything. It's basically taking the carpet lining off by the plastic clips holding it in place, and than pulling it back showing the screws holding the tail lights. And everything in reverse order to put back on. Hopefully that helps and if anything just let me know!
Ok that helps missed the part where it came with a wire harness to connect the inner two. Did you run the wire harness behind the plastic part off the trunk hinge?
Well haven't gotten the lights yet but yeah but the best clean look would run it where factory wires go through and make it look as flushed as it could be because it needs slack to move whenever opening and closing the trunk
Installed mine yesterday. Took about an hour. I didn't want to take the whole bumper off so I unhooked it one side at a time. Very easy to install.
The wiring for the inner lights to turn on is more than long enough and is easy to zip tie with other wires so that it makes it very easy to do wire management.
I wired it directly under the trunk bar cover so it won't show when opened.
It looks better than Lexus ES tail lights at night, the LED tubes are clean and is pretty bright at night. Also like it that it still has the OEM look.
No, don't push it down. I didn't want to risk bending the plastic to the point where it will stay bent so I "unhooked" the bumper halfway instead of taking the whole bumper off. Saves more time and gives you enough room to take the lights out. The tail light has a good-sized plastic "clip" that helps the bumper stay in place so I have no idea how people were able to just take it out without unscrewing/unhooking the bumper off.
I have mudguards on mine, so I had to unscrew the three screws that was holding it with the bumper. (3 in the fender, 1 under the bumper) Then there is another screw you need to unscrew under the bumper near the wheel well.
There is also another screw inside the wheel well where the bumper clip points are. There is another screw point near the trunk area, you will see a little cover that you can pry open with a small flathead.
Once you take all the screws out, gently pull the bumper towards you and it will unclip.
Before you do that, make sure you unclip the plastic trimmings of the trunk latch area. Just pull it up gently and it will unclip.
I wish I could of taken pictures on how to do it but I didn't have my camera with me during the time and it was 90°F outside while I was doing it, so I wasn't a happy person willing to pause and take pictures.
It's pretty self explanatory and a good way to get familiar with your car on how it's put together.
I'll take some better night pictures tomorrow and post it up for you. It's pretty bright.
