Nav system differences

Can anyone provide me with more info on the differences between the "Display Audio with Navigation & Entune" and the "Premium HDD Navigation with Entune and JBL" besides the obvious HDD, JBL and bigger screen size. I am looking for info on functionality differences and limits. I currently have a 2009 Venza with the OEM Nav and find it very useful except for the limitation of not being able to use all touch screen features when moving.

I have checked out the info on Entune and the navs on Toyota's website but the info is very basic.

The basic nav looks like a garmin. I wouldn't pay 32k for an XLE V6 with that in it, however if I was looking at an SE....then it makes sense.

The look and feel of the HDD nav is 99 times better.

Thanks for the feedback. It would be nice if Toyota would post downloadable brochures on their website that give more info on both systems.

Update: I checked out the info on Entune on the Toyota website and they now have a Learning Center that is operational that shows more info on both nav systems.

Manuals for both units are posted on the Toyota Owners' website. Fairly hefty reading, but it should give you an idea how they work.

Probably best to head into the dealer and play with both systems to get a feel for each of them....I like reading, but after awhile my eyes glaze over. I need to physically see them to actually learn anything.

I recall seeing the tyre pressure readout on the Premium Nav option but not on the 6.1" Display Audio. Also, traffic is via your phone (RDS-TMC I believe) on the Display Audio but through XM on the Premium nav.

Actually, I was in a Camry LE today WITHOUT Entune and it had tire pressure readouts as well. It doesn't tell you which tire is which but I think with a little playing around you could figure out which one is which.

Thanks for the info. I forgot to check this website. The HDD nav is very similar to the nav we have in our Venza only it seems like the system is now more intuitive with better voice recognition, i.e. you can just say what you want to do. The basic nav seems to rely more on having a smartphone for traffic info, etc., which I do not have as the plans are just to much money for me at this time.

Does anyone know if the HDD nav comes with all the XM services for free for 3 years or just 90 days? I just can't imagine how much it would cost to have to pay for XM traffic, weather, etc.

The basic nav also has One Shot Navigation, not just the HDD Nav.

The HDD system does show TPM information in the display. Traffic information on the DA is provided through the phone. Traffic data is provided by Inrix.

The DA has different voice controls, i.e. one shot destination entry vs step-by-step for HDD. DA has Bing search, but not via voice. Sports, Stocks and Weather on DA are via smart phone while HDD is via XM. HDD has both iHeartRadio and Pandora.

It's best to try each one out and see what you prefer.

HDD also can play DVD's but doesn't have 3D maps, but Display Audio does have 3D or 2D maps.

All news Camrys will come with 6.1'' screen. (ENTUNE IS different)

Entune is a separate package. It comes with the 6.1" screen but it is an additional feature.

With that said, Entune is divided into the 3 units. (Entune 3,4 and 5.)

Entune 3 will come with apps, and it will have navigation included
Entune 4 comes with everything 3 offers + the JBL Greenedge technology
Entune 5 comes with Entune 3+4, but it is a 7" screen+ XM apps + Nav.

I suggest you guys go to http://www.toyota.com/entune/ to educate yourself.

GOOD LUCK!

-Lucas

Not EVERY Camry will have the 6.1" screen. The Camry L and Camry LE Hybrid have a basic screen that's not a 6.1" screen. It goes by Radios 1-5, Entune is on Radios 3-5.
