vibration and rattle cause by cold weather?

Hi All,

this is the first Winter since I have my Scion xA, so I am not sure this is normal or not. I notice for the last few times my car vibrated and rattled badly when I at stop in the drive gear the first 5 minutes since I started my car, then it went away later.

This never happened to me before, I have no problem during summer time everything was fine. I am suspecting that this may has to do with the cold weather in Boston, what do you think? Are there any other problems that may have caused the vibration, because the shaking is very bad.

alot of Xa's have phantom rattles in them (or so i've heard)
mine personally has one under the seats when i drive 35-40 mph

Is it the engine vibrating or the rest of the car when your moving?
One possible thing is the engine mounts are cold and not as flexable..when you start your car they are cold and transfer more vibration to the car's chassis. when the car warms up the rubber becomes more flexable and the vibration goes away.

If it happens when you are moving....you might have snow/ice frozen to the inside of your wheel and it's causing your wheel/tire to be out of balance and causing a vibration.
