Scion Performance Mods?

I don't know too much about the 1NZ, what kind of bolt on parts are there and what kinda power can be pulled from it? The Blitz S/C is nice, but pricey.

As of right now we got the basic boltons; Intake, Exhaust and Headers. Yes there are turbo and s/c kits out there, but they are for the jdm car, and therefore not 100% with the USDM Ecu.

There is word that TRD USA has already bolted a turbo kit to an xb and should be releasing it in about 8 months. In TRD speak thats about 1.5 years hehe.

I've always wondered if the SC kits designed for the overseas mkts would be compatible with N. Amer. 1NZ-FE

Anyways...here's a nice file on the TTE/Blitz Compressor

ONE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE SCIONS ARE THE CRANK PULLEY IS MADE OUT OF PLASTIC FOR SAFETY( A TOYOTA TECH TOLD ME) SO IF YOU ARE GOING TO PUT A JDM SUPERCHARGER ON YOUR SCION YOU HAVE TO BUY THE JDM PULLEY WHICH IS MADE OUT OF METAL. THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE REASONS TRD IS GOING TO PRODUCE A TURBO RATHER THAN A SUPERSCHARGER FOR THE SCIONS. I

I wish I read this earlier. I just testdrove one and looked under the hood. I did notice that the intake manifold was plastic but that was not a surprise.

A plastic intake manifold is actually a very trick piece of engineering. Its lightweight and strong enough and it doesn't conduct heat as well as aluminum, no need for phenolic spacers.

I haven't looked under the hood of a Scion, are you sure you weren't looking at just a cover?

yep Im posotive it is plastic. It is a good idea to use plastic for the intake for weight and heat issues. they have some prety strong plastics now that can withstand a lot.
As far as what I have heard the Blitz S/C is the best bet for peping up your scion as of yet. it was said to get the car up to around 130hp give or take a few ponies which is a nice upgrade for a light car.

So why metal in Japan, and plastic in the USA?

I am fine with plastic for non-load parts (intake manifold), but the crank pulley seems like it is an accident waiting to happen.

i'm betting that the crank pulley will be one of the first recalls on the scion!

i would choose a turbo kit over a s/c kit anyday! the sound of the spool up, followed by the bov is freakin awesome! not to mention a fmic behind the grill of the scion would look aggressive as shit =)

and the intake manifold.....plastic would be fine as long as its thick, and can withstand the heat......but i'm sure the 108 ponies wouldn't kill the manifold anyway, and the plastic pulley...... do you guys think we could get a JDM one, and put it on ours?

Forgive me for being ignorant, but what is an s/c kit? and from a neutral perspective-what are the advantages/disadvantages of the s/c vs. turbo. including cost.

Are people buying these local, catalog, or internet?

How does all of this affect the warranty?
