Engine swap? Up to the 1.8L?

I heard a rummor that the toyota 1.8L would be a fairly close swap for the 1.5l in the xB. Has anyone else heard anything about this. The 1.8L would be an obvious bonus and there are alot more turbo and performance options for it. I'v seen the engine bay of the xB and there seems to be plenty of room in there. I wouldn't be surprizes if you could go even bigger.

i'm not sure, but i think the mounts are different. I beleive that the mounts for the 1.8L (either ZZ), and the AZ-series are the same though.

The Scions have the 1nzfe, switching to a 1zzfe or a 2zzfe (both 1.8L) would be rather difficult, considering they're both from different engine families.

The 1az is a 2.0 L right? What is the 5vz? What is a good site to go to to see all the engine codes?

5vz is a 3.4L V6 that comes in trucks. u'd need to convert to rwd to get it to work, not worth it imo.

not sure how big the 1az is, but i don't believe it ever came in teh states, so it'd be easier to find a 2az, and swap that in.

the 5vz could be used in a fwd you'd just have to get a shoe horn and some elbow grease or go with the new 3mzfe instead

um no... if your already having a problem fitting the 2zz-ge with the 6speed in the XB or XA ... Theres no way your going to fit a 3.4Liter V6 into that engine bay without cutting and making a new sub frame. Its going to take more than your elbow grease and your shoe horn...

I don't think that adding and engine that is another two or three hundered pound is a great Idea anyway. The 2az is a 2.0 L also is it not? What do you think would be a better Ideda anyway: to wait till a good turbo kit comes out or to swap to an engine that already has a turbo?

the 2az-fe is a 2.4liter motor found on the New TC and on 5th Gen Camrys... There are some good turbo/supercharger kits out there but they're all having problems converting over... The kits were mocked off the Vitz/Platz in Japan. Which has a 16mb ecu while the 2003 and up XB and XA has a 64mb ecu ... which has alot more tuning required to get it to not go into limp mode, every time the car goes into high load and boost...
