TRD superchargers, how loud?

I am buying a TC, and will go with the TRD supercharger once they are available. Has anyone heard a TRD blower on a Solara or any of the other cars it is offered for? My buddy has an STI and you can barely hear the turbo, even with the intake silencer taken off. I drove a blown Gran Prix GTP from a rental agency, and that blower was not very audible either. Are the TRD blowers pretty noisy or quiet? I doubt they are like a Paxton or BDS, but alittle blower whine would be nice.

i believe they are fairly quiet when you are low in the rev range.
they really start to "scream" under high revs. upgrade your intake and zorst system at the same time as ur charger

If you wait awhile. TRD is working with Vortech to produce a kit that produces upto 300 HP.

yeah, the TRD one will be a vortech, not a roots stlye, like the grand prix. I can't think of any other stock car that comes with a vortech actually.

I think 300 hp on this engine would be impossible without lowering the compression via a thicker head gasket and/or turbo pistons. The compression ratio @ stock is 9.2. Thats just to high for anything more then 8 or 9 psi.You would have to pump 25psi and that would might get you close to 300hp but the compression would be way too high to run on pump gas.

I would like to know where you heard or read this.

They arent that loud at all. When you floor it, they do whine but not too loud at all. I had someone stand on the side walk to listen to what it sounded like. They said it screamed, but not too loud at all.

Hey,

Just read your post about a 300HP tC. It would not take 25psi to get 300HP. The calculation that is close is double the normally aspirated HP for every 14psi of boost. Therefore, you woud only need about 14psi to reach 300HP. The compression is somewhat high on the motor, but you could do it. It would decrease the life of the motor, and are right about being skeptical on running pump gas with that amount of boost for this small engine. I woudl think you would need about 97 or better octane for this kind of boost on this tiny engine with that amount of boost. Or you could just install a knock sensor to make sure you are ok with pump gas. Just wanted to add my thought.

There are already Turbo Kits for the tC. Problem is there all custom made for it. So its a pretty penny. Id say Rich spoiled brat kids that have rich parents are the only ones out there right now with the Turbo on there car with all the bells and whistles. As for us working folks, I would think that it would be released sometime right after the SC from TRD in November. Id say January would be a time frame they would release something. And it should be around 4k give or take some. I know I was going to have a custom Turbo done for mine but when they were asking almost 6k for it I told them to go pack sand. All I know is I have to start saving myself now to get all the goodies as they come out.

Nothing against the kids with money, Im just bitter I didnt get my silver spoon.

Save up about 4000-5000 USD. That'll be enough for sure, A TRD s/c right now costs around 3000$ so my estimates may be a bit high but those s/c do not produce nearly as much power as this one is rumored to produce. And you could use the left over $$ and get some other mods.
