Hey you guys with the front sunroof noise
I have reciently ran into a few vehicles that are requireing the same repair to quiet down a creak from both front corners of the sunroof. The noise is easy to duplicate and can be eaisly repaired. I thought Id let ya in on what to do, Im also courious to see how many people have this problem.
The noise can be duplicated this way.
With the sunroof closed gently press down on the back corner portion of the very front roof glass and see if you can hear a creak.
Repair.
Fully open the sunroof which will cause the very front glass (which is called sunroof sub-assembly #1 if you like technical stuff) to tilt up. Look for a plastic bracket that is about 10 inches long that connects this glass to the sunroof frame, This bracket is attached to the frame by a torx head screw and attached to teh glass assembly by a pivot pin and a c-clip.
Take a can of WD-40 and lubricate the pivot pin, do this on both sides. Check to see if this noise is gone.
This is not any kind of TSB or anything, just something I have had to do more than once reciently. It is an easy repair and could save the trouble of going to the dealership. And like I said, Im courious to see if any of you guys have this problem.
