Question Auto To Manual Trade In HELP!

I took my dad to a scion dealer where i showed him the tC and he loved it. We bought it with dealer's leather seats in indigo ink pearl and its an automatic (my parents doesnt like manual). They intend to give the tC to me when I take my license test in 5 months. When I get the tC i wanna switch it to a manual. Do you think I can trade in my scion tC with 2k mileage (probably by 5 months it will we around 4k) for a standard seat new scion tc manual? or do i have to pay extra.

it depends on how the car was paid for. if it was financed, you may loose out on money if you trade it in, i dont think you can swap it like a item at Wally World. it might be a lost cause unless you can find someone to take over the payments of your tC then you gotta buy another one then.

Plus who cares if its manual or automatic, isint it your car? no one in my family drives manual but thats what i wanted.

i would try to convince your parents to take the car back now and get a manual before you put too many miles on it. isnt there a 1 wk rule or 300 mile rule saying the dealership has to take it the car back if you dont want it anymore?

it will cost you big, as soon as you drive off the lot youve already depreciated the car. in addition to paying the difference between the models, i dont see the swap costing less than a few 1000

no, it says "dealer's leather seats". so the seats were installed by the dealer.

Exactly.

The car loses $1000's in value the second you drive it off the lot. You bought a NEW car, the second you drive it 10 feet it becomes a USED car. A few $1000 apart in the blue book, sorry.

While it makes no financial sense to trade in a new car like that, I can totally understand wanting a 5 speed. I can't stand automatics. They are just SO boring to drive and there are few things more disappointing than a sporty car with an automatic.

You'll have to decide how to handle that situation. I can tell you though that trading in on a new car WILL cost you money, period.
