Question Exhaust & Intake

Hey guys,

I am currently getting the funds together to purchase a Scion tC. I plan on the supercharger so that means i'm going to have to open up the intake and exhaust a bit.

As for the intake, I'm looking at the K&N Typhoon CCAI which doubles as a short ram. Will this ting mate to tue supercharger?

Additionally, i was told one of the biggest bottlenecks was the throttlebody, where can i find one?

As for the exhaust i was disappointed when I came to find the TRD is only axelback. Is it a larger diameter pipe than stock (where it bolts to the stcok pipiing)?

I was told Borla made the TRD exhaust for the car and was also told they make a cat-back for it. I can't find it anywhere. However i really don't even know what i'm looking for except a high flow exhaust that wont sound like crap and has good performance. Any suggestions? Injen any good?

How are DC sports? They make a good product? How about Megan Racing?

Thanks for your help. I'm going to be financing it all, so I'm trying to avoid making costly mistakes in judgement. Anyone have performance exhaust installed? Any Sound clips?

Avoid exhast systems like a virus. Anything to arract attention will definately have the po-po a heads up your coming. Loud exhast in Seattle are illegal. Probablly not in Baltimore, but I'd check to make sure.

keep in mind, I'm not looking for loud, I'm just looking to free up the flow. MY friend has 5zigen exhaust and it's not too incrediibly loud unless you punch it. Even then it wont pierce an eardrum. I just figure the exhaust is made for the stock output. With the supercharger there's going to be a lot more flowing through there which theoretically would make for a louder sound anyway unless i open things a bit. I'm not looking to remove the muffler or anything. I just want to open up the flow. Keep in mind this will not be strictly for street application.

Exhaust will give you like 8 hp IF you're lucky. Waste of money IMO, unless you just have to have the giant chrome pen1s replacement sticking out the back of your car and that rich farty, can full of bees sound that drives the ricers wild.

If performance is what you're actually interested in then why not take the chrome fart can money and spend it on an intercooler instead?

Just out of curiosity, what kind of gain would a good intercooler produce?

Depends on the cfm/size of the intercooler. Could be good for as much as 15-20 hp.

but as a result the flow is more restrictive requiring a smaller pully in order to maintain original boost.

Why would I want to add additional backpressure to the system making the engine struggle even harder to breathe. It would make the car like a muscle builder trying to fight. A lot power not a lot of useful strength or endurance.
