the 2006 tC has an optional Ipod connector that connects it directly to the head unit.

Inncorrect, the ipod connector does NOT connect directly to the head unit. There is a cable that that has a Ipod port that you plug into its connector and then you plug the other end into the ipod and you can controll the ipod FROM the head unit.

the cable still connects directly to the head unit, it is just in the center console. same thing
