2009 Corolla S Squeak when i start the car..

hey guys..

i have 09 S with 3,500 miles on it, bought in Sept of 08...

just the past few days i have noticed when i start the car i get a squeak noise as soon as i turn the key and they it goes away...it sounds like the sound when u know u have a squeaky belt...

it happens really fast tho, as soon as i start the car, a quick squeak that last for 3 -4 seconds and then goes away...i have heard it in the mornings and when i come out of work to start my car..the squeak comes from under the hood. what i did is i started the car with my head out the window and it clearly came from under the hood..

any ideas anyone ? anyone have same problem ?

My car chirps once when I start up the car in cold weather, it seems to be a common problem. I suspect that it is a belt that is causing the chirp sound.

I have the same issue. I would say we don't have to worry about it. If it's starts to slip when driving or when idling that will be an other story. 8000 miles and it as not aggravated.

i wonder if it does this when it is cold...i just dont see why it would, it is a belt and i dont see why it would squeak in the winter for any reason...mine just starting doing it a few days ago. it is really fast as soon as the engine turns it squeaks and goes away. very odd. i just dont like sounds like that they get me nervous haha. i hope its nothing extreme.

Hi Straightclown, i have the same issue with my CE. I took it to the dealership back in january and they changed the alternator. This solved the problem for a couple of months, but it seems to be back..as you said it is only when turn the key to start the engine and then it goes away. I'm at 9300 km, but still i find it odd being a new car. Do you still hear the noise? have you gone to the dealer?
cheers

how did you get them to adjust the belt ?

i actually went to the dealer last week, i have been meaning to post this...

i just passed my 5,000 miles i now have 5,650 miles on the car, i rotated my tires and changed oil and filter at 5k and the chirp sound has been happening to me for a few months now in the mornings more often

well

i took my car to the dealer, and when i went to pick my car up, they said that they could not hear anything, they let it sit and all of this and didnt hear anything and they did not change anything on my car ...

This is a common sound you hear on any car when a belt is not tight enough. I've seen this on a couple of my older cars. It usually happens when I get work done where they need to loosen a belt (ie fix AC, replace water pump...) and don't tighten the belt enough.
